Drug Formulation

Aconite (raw, with skin and pith removed) 5 liang, Wulingzhi 5 liang, Aconite Root (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed) 2 liang, Wolf’s-bane (roasted) 1 liang, Fangfeng (with branches removed) 2 liang, Earthworm (with soil left intact) 2 liang, Cinnamon Bark (with coarse outer bark removed) 2 liang, Tiger Bone (sealed in a sand bottle with salt and mud, calcined to preserve its nature) 2 liang,Phyllanthus bark (chopped) 2 liang, natural copper (calcined and quenched in vinegar 3–5 times) 2 liang, frankincense (ground) 1 liang, myrrh (ground) 1 liang, musk (ground) 3 fen, borneol (ground) 1 qian, tangled hair (burned to ash while retaining its properties) half a liang, high-quality ink (calcined) half a liang.

Processing

Grind each of the above herbs into a fine powder. Sun-dry for 7 days, then pound and sift to a fine powder. Mix with the natural juice of fresh ginger, knead thoroughly, and form into pills the size of a marble.

Instructions for Use

Divide each pill into 4 doses; dissolve each dose in warm wine mixed with a small amount of fresh ginger juice and take orally. For one-sided or general headaches, as well as brain wind disorders, dissolve a pill in clear waxed tea mixed with a small amount of fresh ginger juice and take orally; remove the pillow, lie down for a short while, and grind one pill into a paste to apply to the swollen and painful area.For emergency treatment of various postpartum disorders, dissolve one pill in ginger juice mixed with equal parts child’s urine and wine (half a zhan each), and take while slightly warm; for blood-wind exhaustion or stagnant blood attacking the limbs, or causing stabbing pain in the abdomen and ribs, take with Angelica wine; for injuries from falls or blows, take with Frankincense wine; for severe cases, take 3 pills.
