Drug Formulation

3 liang of deer antler gelatin (crushed, stir-fried until golden and dry, then ground into a fine powder), 1 sheng of cow’s milk, 1 he of white honey, 1 he of clarified butter, and 1 he of ginger juice.

Processing

For these five ingredients, first simmer the milk; just before it is done, add the deer antler gelatin and stir until it dissolves. Next, add the ginger juice, followed by the honey—adding the honey very slowly. Simmer for over ten boils, then pour into a porcelain vessel, stirring frequently to prevent the ghee from floating to the top. Allow to set, then cut into small pieces with a bamboo knife.
