Processing

Soak the two herbs in half a jin of sesame oil overnight. The next day, simmer over low heat until the mixture turns purplish-black. Then add 200 cun of willow twigs—tender ones harvested from a sunny slope—and continue simmering with the previous herbs until the twigs turn black. Remove all the herbs, strain through cotton, and add 4 liang of roasted yellow丹.and simmer in the oil over low heat, continuously beating the mixture with a willow wood stick. After several boils, when the mixture turns slightly black, add 1 piece of frankincense the size of a soapberry, continue beating, and test by dripping a drop into water—if it forms a bead, immediately pour it out and store in a porcelain box.
