Drug Formulation
10 sheets of high-quality white oil-coated paper (each cut into 8 pieces), 1 liang of “Eagle’s Claw” Coptis (remove the stalks and finely chop).

Processing
Place approximately two bowls of water in an earthenware pot; add the Coptis and simmer until reduced to one and a half bowls. First add 5 sheets of oiled paper, then add the remaining 5 sheets. Continue simmering until the mixture has boiled 700 times, replenishing the liquid as it evaporates. Do not use iron utensils. Strain the mixture, wipe away any Coptis residue, and bake until dry.

Instructions for Use
If the sore has ruptured and is oozing pus, apply the medicated powder in a loose, circular layer; for wounds caused by a cane, cut the medicated powder to a size that fits the wound exactly—it must not be too large. First, cut the surrounding oil-soaked paper into pieces, burn them to ash, mix with hot wine, chew some ginger, and swallow the mixture; then apply the medicated powder.
Note
After applying the poultice, avoid meat and fish for 1–2 hours.
