Drug Formulation

7 stems of weeping willow branches (2 cun long), 7 stems of peach branches (2 cun long), 7 stems of goji berry branches (2 cun long), 1 fen of horse-tooth calcium sulfate (finely ground), 7 stems of mulberry branches (2 cun long), 49 bamboo leaves, half liang of Coptis (stems removed), half liang of cassia seeds, and half qian of borneol (finely ground).

Processing

Except for the Ma Ya Xiao and borneol, decoct the remaining ingredients in 2 large bowls of whey in a copper vessel until reduced by half. Strain out the residue, filter again through cotton to ensure purity, then add the Ma Ya Xiao and borneol. Stir until evenly mixed, and decoct further until thickened.

Instructions for Use

Using the tip of a copper chopstick, take an amount the size of a small bean and apply it to the eye 3–5 times daily.
