Instructions for Use
Chop the ingredients into slices, place them in a raw silk bag, and add 30 jin of wine. Seal the jar with bamboo leaves, place it in a pot of water, and boil it—ensuring the water level does not rise above the jar’s rim. Place 100 grains of rice on top of the bamboo leaves. Wait until the steam has cooked the rice, then extinguish the fire. Bury the jar in soil to remove the toxic fumes, and drink the liquid. Long-term consumption will make one’s complexion as youthful as a child’s.
Note
Avoid radishes, scallions, and garlic, as consuming them counteracts the effects of Rehmannia and may cause premature graying of the hair. Meat and wheat products are permitted, but avoid rice cooked with mung beans.
