Drug Formulation

5 dou of large black beans (rinsed thoroughly, steamed twice, and hulled) and 3 dou of fire hemp seeds (soaked in water overnight, steamed three times until they split open).

Processing

Grind each into a fine powder, then mix and knead into a mass the size of a fist. Place in a steamer and steam from the hour of Xu until the hour of Zi; remove from the steamer at the hour of Yin; dry in the sun at the hour of Wu, then grind into a fine powder.

Instructions for Use

Take it dry, in amounts sufficient to feel full. Do not consume any other food or drink. After taking 4–5 doses, you will feel no hunger, and your complexion will become rosy and radiant rather than sallow. If you feel thirsty, boil hemp seeds and drink the decoction; if you wish to resume your usual diet, grind 3 he of winter mallow seeds into a powder, boil it in water, and drink the cooled decoction. This will expel the previous substance in a golden color; you may then resume your regular diet without any harm.
