Drug Formulation

30 whole scorpions, 20 centipedes, 30 croton seeds, 20 blister beetles, 30 single-clove garlic bulbs, and 1 jin of clear oil.

Processing

First, deep-fry the above ingredients in oil until charred; remove them and grind into a fine powder. Return the powder to the oil and simmer until a drop of the mixture forms a bead when dropped into water. Add appropriate amounts of orpiment and lead powder; when the consistency is just right—neither too soft nor too hard—the ointment is ready.
