Drug Formulation

1 jin of mercury, 8 liang of sodium carbonate, half a sheng of strong vinegar, 10 liang of yellow alum, 20 liang of tin (refined twice), 6 liang of black mercury, and 3 jin of salt flowers.

Processing

First, refine the tin thoroughly. Then, warm the mercury until hot and pour it into the tin. Next, pound the black mineral andyellow alum into a fine powder, sift them through silk, then pound the tin into small pieces. Combine the salt flowers with the black essence and other ingredients, mix with vinegar until moist, spread 1 jin of salt flowers on the bottom as a base, then arrange the mixture evenly on top. Cover with pu xiao, seal the basin with a lid, and use salt ash to form a paste to seal the cracks. Let it dry, then heat over low flame for 3 days,and over high heat for 4 days. After a total of 7 days, remove from the heat; after 1 day, open the container and sweep out the product. This process requires great care and vigilance; do not let your guard down even for a moment, or the fire will be lost.
