Instructions for Use
For conditions such as blood stasis, toxic swellings, and scrofula that have not yet ruptured, add Wei Xiang San. Depending on the size of the ointment and the severity of the condition, add an additional half fen to 2–3 fen as a general rule. For deep-seated toxins where pus has not fully drained, or stubborn sores with opposing openings, this ointment is essential for effective treatment even after the sore has ruptured. For unruptured sores, apply the ointment and do not remove it; removing it will cause itching. Do not remove it even if it is painful, as this will hasten the formation of pus. For sores on flat areas, apply the ointment spread on paper; for sores on curved or moving areas, apply it spread on silk or cloth. For leg sores and sores on the buttocks or legs caused by cold and dampness, first wash the area with tea water mixed with a small amount of white alum before applying the ointment to ensure effectiveness. For headaches, apply to the temples; for toothaches, insert into the gaps between the teeth. For internal abscesses and similar conditions, form into pills, coat with oyster shell powder, and swallow. For toxic sores and phlegm nodules, add a generous amount of Wei Xiang San; for purulent sores, add copper carbonate; for snake-head sores and tinea infections, applying the ointment is also effective.
