Drug Formulation

1 liang of Clematis root, 3 qian of cicada wings, 3 qian of Sichuan lovage, 3 qian of Chinese angelica, and ephedra (7 qian in spring, 5 qian in summer, 9 qian in autumn, and 2 liang 2 qian in winter).

Benefits

In the early stages of syphilis, the skin is dry and itchy, primarily affecting the upper body.

Instructions for Use

First, take 1 jin of mutton and 10 bowls of water; decoct until reduced to 7 bowls. Remove the mutton, add the aforementioned herbs to the liquid, and decoct until reduced to 3 bowls. Strain the mixture and divide it into 3 doses to be taken within one day. Once the decoction is finished, consume the remaining mutton and drink a small amount of water or wine. Cover yourself with a quilt to induce sweating; vomiting or diarrhea may occur 3–4 times before recovery. Nourish the body with congee. The internal toxin will resolve on its own, and the external toxin will be expelled.

Note

Avoid beef, dog meat, chicken, goose, liquor, tea, vinegar, and similar items; eat three jujubes every morning. If the patient cannot tolerate alcohol or is extremely weak, use a soap-based decoction instead.
