Drug Formulation

Qianghuo (root tip removed) 1 liang, 1 papaya, Tianxiong (roasted until cracked, peel and navel removed) 1 liang, Cinnamon (coarse bark removed) 1 liang, Fennel Seeds (roasted) 1 liang, Achyranthes Root (stems removed, soaked in wine, sliced, and roasted) 1 liang,Muxiang 1 liang, aged tangerine peel (soaked in hot water, white pith removed) 1 liang, Tianma 1 liang, realgar (ground separately) 1.5 liang, mugwort (leaves only, ground into powder separately) 4 liang, myrrh (ground separately) 1 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a powder. Hollow out a wood apple, leaving the top intact. Mix the mugwort powder and realgar with cooked honey, fill the hollowed-out wood apple with this mixture, and seal it with the top. Secure it with a bamboo skewer, place it in a silver or stone container, and steam it in a rice steamer until soft. Combine this with the prepared medicinal powder, then pound the mixture 300–500 times with a pestle. Form into pills the size of a tung tree seed.

Instructions for Use

Take 30 pills per dose; chew them slightly to break them up, then swallow with warm wine; salted water may also be used. If it is difficult to form into pills, add a small amount of wine to a wheat flour paste and use it to bind the mixture into pills.
