Malaria-Eradicating Golden Pill,*Revised Popular Treatise on Cold Damage*.,Recurrent malaria is triggered by wind-cold. At onset, there is aversion to cold without sweating, and pain in the head and body. This is followed by alternating chills and fever at regular intervals; in severe cases, an attack occurs every other day, and in the most severe cases, every three days. During chills, the patient shivers violently, teeth chattering audibly, and the face, head, hands, and feet are cold; in severe cases, the lips and fingernails turn blue. Once the chills subside, intense fever sets in, with the skin flushed red and a high fever; the head aches severely, breathing is labored, there is a strong thirst for cold drinks, mental fatigue and drowsiness, or restlessness and irritability;lasting from as little as 2–3 hours to as long as 4–5 hours, followed by profuse sweating throughout the body, after which all symptoms subside. This pattern repeats itself, persisting for months or even years, becoming a protracted and difficult-to-cure condition. The tongue coating is white and greasy, or even completely covered with a grayish, greasy coating; the pulse is deep, taut, and slow; and there are no masses or lumps under the ribs in milder cases.
