Drug Formulation
1 jin of horse-chestnut seeds, half a jin of trichosanthes peel.

Processing
First, soak the horse-chestnut seeds in a child’s urine for 24 days; add the bitter orange peel and soak together for another 25 days. Remove and rinse thoroughly with clean water; peel the horse-chestnut seeds and remove the pith from the bitter orange peel. Slice both into fine pieces and air-dry them. Mix with yellow earth and roast until they turn yellowish-black. Grind into a fine powder, store in a clay jar, and keep on hand for use.

Instructions for Use
For bleeding cuts from a blade, regardless of severity, apply the mixture directly to the wound and wrap it securely with cloth; for severe injuries, use 1 small teaspoon of the mixture (or 2 teaspoons for robust individuals), add 1 li of musk, and grind evenly. After identifying the cause, prepare a decoction using the prescribed herb to extract the liquid, mix it with the powder, and take it mixed with yellow wine; if the patient can drink, it is acceptable to become thoroughly intoxicated and fall asleep after taking the medicine. Cover the patient tightly with a cotton quilt; once sweat appears, recovery will follow.The next day, prepare a soup with fresh pork for the injured person to eat. For contusions and bruises without visible bleeding, after the condition has been assessed, prepare the decoction as described and take it as directed; recovery will follow.
Note
Once a scab has formed on the wound after applying the ointment, avoid contact with water at all costs; after taking the medicine, while covered with a quilt and sweating, avoid exposure to drafts. Regardless of whether this formula is applied topically, rubbed in, or taken orally, there are no dietary restrictions; in fact, one should consume foods that promote healing to prevent the injury from flaring up and causing pain later on.
