Benefits
Wind, cold, heat, and dampness affecting the bone marrow; the Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries; chronic cough and wheezing; hemoptysis and cold-induced debility; seminal emission and leukorrhea; erectile dysfunction; extreme weakness of the lower jiao; mental disorders; and phlegm obstruction; in women, red and white leukorrhea, infertility, and extreme coldness of the uterus.
Instructions for Use
Separately, form a ring of wheat flour dough and place it over the navel. Divide one dose of the aforementioned formula into three parts; take one part, mix it with 5 fen of musk powder, and fill the navel with this mixture. Place another portion of the formula into the flour ring, press it firmly into place, and pierce several holes in the center. Cover the medication with a slice of Sophora japonica bark and moxibustion it with mugwort.Replace the moxa cones as needed to maintain the heat. The heat may travel from top to bottom or bottom to top, permeating the entire body. The patient will inevitably feel drowsy and heavy, as if intoxicated. Perform 50–60 moxa cones until profuse sweating covers the entire body, extending from the Niwan Palace at the crown of the head to the Yongquan acupoint at the soles of the feet. If no sweat appears, the illness has not yet been cured; repeat the treatment 3–5 days later until sweating occurs.
Note
During moxibustion, guard against wind and cold; avoid greasy, raw, and cold foods; and rest and recuperate for one month.
