Processing

Place them in a large earthenware bowl, soak them in the broth from cooked glutinous rice porridge, cover tightly, and leave in a quiet place. Check frequently over the next 7 days; wait until the sprouts turn golden yellow and black hairs begin to emerge. Then test them with chopsticks: if they pierce easily and the interior is soft, transfer the mixture to a coarse earthenware bowl and pound it into a paste. Sun-dry the bowl and its contents in the midday sun until the surface is dry, then pound again until smooth and sun-dry once more;Sun-dry until it can be formed into pills; then shape into pills the size of marbles, dry thoroughly in the sun, and store for use.
