Drug Formulation

3 liang of croton seed (with skin and core removed), 3 qian of realgar, 1.5 qian of golden-footed arsenic, 3 qian of beeswax, 1.5 qian of mercury oxide, and 1.5 qian of borax.

Processing

First, grind the four ingredients—including realgar—into a fine powder. Next, add the croton seeds and grind them together until the mixture resembles a paste. Separately, melt the beeswax in a bowl, then strain it three times with fresh water to remove impurities. Combine the mixture with the powder, wrap it in oiled paper, and adjust the dosage according to the severity of the illness to form pills the size of a paulownia seed.
