Chinese Name : 秘方紫金膏
Drug Formulation
10 liang of Coptis (cleaned and crushed), 10 liang of Phellodendron bark (outer bark removed, washed, and chopped.Decoct the above ingredients in a clean pot with wax-treated water to yield 1 sheng; strain out the dregs. Then add 2 dou of water and decoct to yield 1 sheng; strain again through fine silk gauze. 30 apricot kernels (remove skins and tips, grind extremely fine to make a paste), half a liang of wild pepper (remove skin, grind fine.Combine the above ingredients with the previous decoction and simmer in a silver or stone vessel until it forms a paste), 5 liang of orpiment (first sifted through fine silk, then ground extremely fine), 4 fen of copper green (cleaned), and 4 fen of mercury oxide.

Processing
Add all of the above to the ointment prepared earlier, stirring continuously until well blended; then take 20 pieces of mugwort leaves, pound them thoroughly, and use the resulting smoke to fumigate the ointment. Form the mixture into pills the size of soapberries, air-dry them in the shade, store them in an airtight container, and preserve them with borneol and musk; the longer they are stored, the more effective they become.
