Drug Formulation

4 liang of Atractylodes lancea (soaked in rice wash), 4 liang of Rhubarb with brocade-like veins, 1 liang 5 qian of genuine toad venom (dissolved in good-quality rice wine), 2 liang of Tianma, 2 liang of Chenzhou cinnabar (finely ground and washed with water), 1 liang of Waohuang, 1 liang of raw alum, 1 liang of Ephedra (knots removed, finely chopped), 1 liang of Wood Fragrance, 3 qian of Dangmenzi, and 1 liang of Yueshi.

Processing

Sun-dry the ingredients, grind into a fine powder, and mix thoroughly. Form into pills the size of radish seeds using sorghum wine as the binder. Coat with cinnabar and store in a porcelain jar, ensuring no air escapes.

Instructions for Use

When treating a patient, first grind 2–3 pills into a powder and blow it into the nostrils; then place 3–4 pills under the tongue and wait until the tongue becomes numb before swallowing. If the patient is already unconscious, grind the pills into a powder and administer them with warm water.For miasma in mountainous regions or when traveling in summer and exposed to foul air on an empty stomach, place 3 pills in the mouth; for abscesses, carbuncles, and toxic sores, as well as injuries from snake, scorpion, or poisonous insect venom, grind into a powder, mix with good wine, and apply as a poultice.
