Formulas Name : Spirit-Unblocking Pill

Chinese Name : 通神丹

Drug Formulation

2 liang of Wulingzhi (on the first day, soak in ginger juice until the fifth day; then mix with well water and strain out the coarse sediment), 1 fen of dried scorpion (prepared as for dried silkworm pupae), 2 liang of Da Chuanwu (peeled and ground into a fine powder), 3 fen of Cao Wu (prepared as for Chuanwu), half a liang of myrrh (ground into a paste with well water),Tiannanxing 1 fen (soaked in ginger juice overnight, sun-dried, then ground and sifted into a fine powder), white silkworm pupae 1 fen (washed, then ground into a fine powder), cinnabar 3 fen (sifted; half added to the mixture, half used as a coating), musk 0.5 fen (soaked in medicinal wine overnight, then ground into a fine powder), wood fragrance 0.5 liang (ground into a fine powder), mercury oxide 1 fen, frankincense 0.5 liang(ground into a paste with well water).

Processing

On the Dragon Boat Festival or the Last Day of the Twelfth Lunar Month, mix the powdered ingredients evenly; use a paste made from wheat flour boiled in wax-infused water to form pills the size of a chicken’s head.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 pill per dose after a meal, along with 1 slice of ginger and 1 mint leaf, chewed and swallowed with tea or wine.
