Drug Formulation

5 liang of pork fat, 2 liang of mutton fat, 1 liang of wild camel fat, 3.5 fen of beeswax, half a liang of salt (roasted), 1 liang of realgar (ground), 1 fen of belladonna seeds (roasted),20 cloves, half liang of Angelica dahurica, 3 fen of Phellodendron bark (coarse bark removed, decocted), 3 fen of Aquilaria agallocha, 1 fen of Asarum (stems and leaves removed), Sichuan pepper (seeds and closed ends removed, stir-fried until sweating), half fen of Cinnamon bark (coarse bark removed), 1 fen of pine knots, half liang of Agarwood, half liang of Frankincense (ground), 1 fen of Musk (ground),Chuanxiong 3 fen, Gaoben (with stems and soil removed) 3 fen, Danggui (chopped, roasted) half liang, Shengma 3 fen, Cyperus root half liang, Licorice (roasted) half liang.

Processing

Except for the fats and the ground ingredients, grind the rest into a fine powder; take the ground ingredients and grind them again until as fine as flour. Then, melt the three types of fat in a pot and mix them into the medicine, stirring continuously with a spoon. When it begins to solidify, the ointment is ready. Store it in a porcelain container; it is most effective when prepared on the Day of the Waxing Moon.
