Chinese Name : 追毒溃脓散

Drug Formulation

2 qian of Angelica dahurica, 2 qian of Sichuan tortoise shell (stir-fried with earth until pearl-like), 1 qian of rock frankincense (roasted and charred), 1 qian of myrrh (roasted and charred), 1 qian and 5 fen of white silkworm pupae (stir-fried, skin removed), 1 qian and a half of licorice, 4 qian of rhubarb, and 1 qian of soapberry thorns (stir-fried).

Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder.

Instructions for Use

Take 4 qian of Angelica sinensis (coarsely chopped), decoct it with 3 zhan of a mixture of equal parts wine and water, mix in the powdered ingredients listed above, and drink the entire mixture on an empty stomach. If there is insufficient Angelica sinensis wine, add good-quality wine to mix and take. Continue until pus and blood have been expelled 3–5 times; after expulsion, take congee as a tonic and discontinue the medication.

Note

After taking the medicine, avoid greasy, raw, cold, fried, or other foods that may aggravate the condition. Also, refrain from physical exertion and rest quietly for 6–7 days.
