Drug Formulation

7 sour pomegranates (peeled, placed in a basin, steamed until soft over a rice steamer, then strained to extract the juice), 20 winter-ripened pears (peeled and pitted, ground and strained to extract the juice), 1 liang of Notopterygium root,half a liang of rhino horn shavings, 1 liang of Fangfeng (with the root tip removed), 1 liang of dried mint leaves, half a liang of Leonurus seeds, half a liang of white Aconite (roasted and cracked), half a liang of Sophora root (chopped), 1 liang of ginseng (with the root tip removed), and half a liang of black beak (roasted and cracked, with the skin and navel removed).

Processing

Grind all the above herbs (except the juice) into a fine powder. Decoct the first two ingredients into a thick paste, then mix with the powder to form pills the size of a tung tree seed.
