Benefits
For back abscesses and sores accompanied by unbearable pain.
Instructions for Use
Grind each of the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 1 qian each of the ground Che’ao and Phellodendron powders, at least half a qian of licorice powder, and at least 1.5 qian of dried reed bark powder. Mix thoroughly, moisten with saliva, and apply the mixture using a bamboo comb to the swollen area, ensuring it completely covers the base of the ulcer. If the ulcer has not yet ruptured, it will rupture on its own; if it has already ruptured, the pus will drain out on its own. Results are typically seen within 10 applications. Each time the poultice is applied, first boil 2–3 stalks of red-rooted scallions, a small amount of mint, and a pinch of salt together to make a decoction. Allow it to cool, then rinse the affected area with it. Immediately wipe it dry with a piece of silk before applying the medicine. This formula should also be applied to malignant sores and boils; those without a head will dissipate, and those with a head will discharge pus.
