Processing

Simmer the above ingredients over low heat until charred black; remove the dregs. Add 49 inches of locust tree branches, simmer until charred black, and remove the dregs. Add 1 liang of beeswax, 1 qian of dried alum, and 2 qian of mercury oxide. Once melted, use cotton paper folded into twelve layers; cut into squares according to the size of the sore, secure with paper twists, and soak in cold oil until thoroughly saturated—do not allow it to turn scorched yellow—then remove.

Instructions for Use

Before applying the poultice, first wash the affected area with a decoction of locust branches, green onions, and Sichuan pepper. Apply the prepared paper poultice, then tightly wrap it with oiled paper and scarlet silk. Every week, remove one layer of paper closest to the sore. Once all the paper has been removed, the sore will be completely healed; the effect is miraculous.
