Drug Formulation

100 liang of gold, 3 jin of cold-water stone, 3 jin of gypsum (one version uses talc), 1 jin of Scrophularia root, 5 liang of ground antelope horn, 5 liang of ground rhinoceros horn, 5 liang of agarwood, 5 liang of blue wood incense, 1 liang of cloves, and 8 liang of licorice (roasted).

Processing

Chop the ingredients; boil them in 3 dou of water until reduced to 1 dou; strain out the dregs; remove 4 sheng of calcium carbonate (sodium carbonate may also be used); add 10 jin of sodium sulfate to the liquid; simmer over low heat, stirring continuously with a willow strip without stopping; when the mixture begins to set, pour it into a basin; add 3 liang of cinnabar and 1 liang of musk; stir vigorously until it forms a frost-like, snow-white, purplish substance.

Instructions for Use

Mix with water and take 1–2 fen; adjust the dosage as appropriate. One dose is sufficient for 10 years of use.
