Hu Huanglian: half liang; Chuan Huanglian: half liang; Cinnabar: 1 qian 5 fen (ground separately).

Processing

Grind the two types of Coptis into a powder, mix with cinnabar, place the mixture into a pig’s gallbladder, tie it securely, and suspend it loosely in a pot. Simmer for the duration of one rice-cooking session, then remove. Grind aloe vera and indigo blue, each 2 qian 5 fen (removing the sediment), along with 2 qian of toad ash and a small amount of musk. Mix with glutinous rice to form pills the size of a sesame seed.
