Instructions for Use

Take 5 qian per dose. Boil with 2 zhan of water and 25 strands of lampwick until reduced to 8 fen. Strain and take on an empty stomach. While taking this medicine, the method should resemble the brewing of Araji wine: use 1 dou of water and only 1 qian of the medicine. After taking the medicine, as urination begins, gradually increase the dosage until the urine turns clear and white; only then is the patient considered cured. For severe cases, the above formula may be divided into three large doses. For each dose, add 2 liang of Ophiopogon japonicus (without the core) and one large handful of lamp wick (each weighing half a liang). Place 5 liang of the mixture in a sand pot with 1 dou of water and boil down to one large bowl. Transfer to a small cauldron and boil further until reduced to one large bowl. Take on an empty stomach at the fifth watch. Boil the residue again and take it as well. Administer three consecutive doses.
