Processing

Add 5 bowls of water and decoct until reduced to 1 bowl; strain out the residue. Transfer the liquid to a clean bowl and boil it down further to 1 zhong. On top of Tang ash, pour the paste onto a sheet of paper. Take Pinellia tuber boiled in vinegar until it forms a paste, mix it thoroughly with the soapberry paste, and combine with 3 liang of powdered alum. Pound the mixture with pine, poplar, and persimmon to form pills the size of a marble.
