Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Form into pills the size of a sesame seed using date pulp.

Benefits

For children who are emaciated, with weak internal organs; suffering from diarrhea or dysentery due to deficiency and loose stools; reduced intake of breast milk or food; excessive thirst; and distension and fullness in the chest and abdomen.

Instructions for Use

Take 3–7 pills per dose, washed down with warm rice water. Before breastfeeding or meals, give the child soft rice pills the size of millet grains; for a 1-year-old, give 20 pills. Another formula: Dissolve a piece of yellow, withered fat the size of a finger into one crushed egg, stir-fry until cooked, and have the child eat it all. Then have the child swallow the pills mentioned above. This treatment is remarkably effective for chronic diarrhea caused by malnutrition. In Tang’s formula, date pulp is not used to make the pills, as rice and rice water are absorbed by the spleen.
