Drug Formulation

One pair of male and female nest-rearing black-boned chickens.

Processing

Keep them in a separate enclosure and do not mix them with the rest of the flock. When they lay eggs, draw a circle on the crown of the first-hatched chick. Once a large number of chicks have hatched, when gathering them, part the feathers around the circle on the first chick to reveal the area. Use 3 qian of cinnabar, 2 qian of angelica root,2 qian of Paeonia lactiflora, 2 qian of Chuanxiong, and 2 qian of Rehmannia glutinosa. Grind these into a fine powder. Pour out the egg yolk and mix it with the powdered medicine; return the mixture to the shell. If the shell is not full, use another shell to hold the remainder. Seal both shells with thick paper and place them among the other chicks to be brooded together. When the chicks hatch, remove the medicated eggs, peel off the shells, and use refined honey to form pills.
