Elixir of Spirit Sand in a Cabinet of Black Stone over a Hidden Fire

Elixir of Spirit Sand in a Cabinet of Black Stone over a Hidden Fire,For women suffering from wind-cold.

Formulas Name : Elixir of Spirit Sand in a Cabinet of Black Stone over a Hidden Fire

Chinese Name : 伏火玄石柜灵砂丹

Drug Formulation

3 liang of cinnabar (finely ground, wrapped in paper), 1.5 jin of magnetite (crushed, finely ground, and thoroughly rinsed to remove all red liquid).

Source

*Shenghui* (Volume 95).

Processing

Mix the magnetite with 12 liang of naphtha until the two substances are thoroughly blended. First, thoroughly dry a small porcelain bottle. Place half of the magnetite into the bottle and tamp it down firmly. Hollow out a small pit in the center large enough to hold the cinnabar—wrap it in paper and place it in the pit. Cover it with the remaining mixture, tamping it down firmly. Cover the bottle’s opening with a tile, but do not seal it tightly;Use a low flame to expel all the Yin energy. When the bottle is thoroughly heated, increase the fire until it reaches one ceng, then reduce it, allowing the heat to permeate the entire bottle until the top and bottom glow red. Let the fire burn out on its own. Once cooled, open the bottle and remove the cinnabar—it will have been subdued. Remove the paper and ash, finely grind the cinnabar to the consistency of flour, mix it with a thin solution of ginger juice, place it in a teacup, and steam it over rice for three full steaming cycles. Dry it in the sun, grind it into a fine powder, and form it into pills the size of small beans using date pulp.
