Drug Formulation
Deer antler (use fresh antlers from sika deer; do not use antlers that have been removed or those from elk; remove the tip of the antler and 2 cun of the bone at the base, then split open and use only the clean portion) 10 jin, turtle shell (remove the membrane, wash thoroughly) 5 jin (crushed), ginseng 15 liang, goji berries 30 liang.

Processing
Place the first three ingredients in a bag and soak them in a steady stream of running water for 3 days. Use a lead jar; if a lead jar is unavailable, a large sheet of lead placed at the bottom will suffice. Place the antlers and turtle shell into the jar, cover with water to a depth of 3–5 cun, seal the opening with 3 liang of beeswax, and place the jar in a large pot. Simmer over mulberry wood fire for 7 days and nights. During simmering, add hot water to the jar once a day; do not allow the liquid to boil.and add water to the pot five times per day and night. When the antlers become soft, remove them, wash them, and filter out the residue; this residue is the deer antler ash and turtle shell ash.Set the clear liquid aside. Separately, place ginseng and goji berries in a copper pot with 36 bowls of water and simmer until the herbs are completely dry. Strain the clear liquid through a clean cloth. Grind the residue finely in a mortar with water, then simmer with 24 bowls of water as before. Repeat the process of straining, grinding, and simmering three times, continuing until the residue is tasteless.Combine the previous turtle and deer extracts with the ginseng and goji berry extracts in a pot, and simmer over low heat until a drop of the mixture forms a bead that does not disperse; this indicates the gel has been formed. Beginning on the 10th day of the lunar month, expose it to sunlight by day and moonlight by night for 17 days, with the 7th night marking the completion of the process. This allows it to absorb the essence of the sun and moon. If there are any days of overcast or rainy weather during this month, make up for the missed exposure in the following month. Store in a cool, shaded place to air-dry.

Instructions for Use
