Drug Formulation

Coptis and Coptis Chinensis (stems removed, chopped into bean-sized pieces) 1 liang; Mirabilite (ground) half a liang; honey 4 liang (simmered in a double boiler).

Processing

First, soak the Coptis rhizome in honey overnight. The next day, mix in the ground Mithaka powder until well blended. Place the mixture in a white porcelain bowl. Then, place 1 dou of black beans in a pot, boil them in water until hot, and set the bowl of medicine on top of the beans—taking care not to let the bean liquid seep in. Wait until the beans are cooked through, then remove the mixture and strain it through cotton. Add half a qianbi of borneol and store in a silver or stone container.

For severe heat in the liver and lungs, resulting in red eyes and the formation of pterygium.

Instructions for Use

Apply to the eyes after three days; the time of day does not matter.
