Drug Formulation

Live earthworms (remove legs; roast over low heat on a tile until golden brown; grind into a fine powder; use the pure powder) 5 qian; natural copper (heat on a tile over charcoal until red-hot; quench in good vinegar for half a ke; remove; repeat heating and quenching nine times; grind into a powder) 3 qian;Genuine Frankincense (for every 1 liang, stir-fry with 2 qian 5 fen of lampwick until charred; grind together, blow away the wick, and use the pure powder) 2 qian, genuine aged dragon’s blood (sifted to remove impurities) 2 qian, genuine cinnabar (sifted to remove impurities) 2 qian, croton seed (remove the shell, grind, wrap in paper, and press several times to remove all oil; use the pure powder) 12 qian, genuine musk 3 fen (must be of the “Dangmenzi” variety).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder, place it in a small-mouthed porcelain bottle, and seal the opening with wax to prevent air from escaping.

Instructions for Use

Adults: 1 fen 5 li per dose; children: 7 li; dissolve in wine. If the jaw is locked shut, pry open one tooth and pour the mixture in; the patient will surely survive.
