Modified Yi Yin Decoction,For yin deficiency with excessive fire, manifested as hematemesis, hemoptysis, epistaxis, palpitations and anxiety, and upper consumption; for yin deficiency and fluid depletion following a febrile illness, characterized by unrelenting thirst and persistent tidal fever; and for women with yin deficiency and blood heat, presenting with delayed menstruation, purplish-red menstrual blood, intermittent tidal fever, dry mouth, and heat in the palms and soles.Upper Consumption: where fluid deficiency occurs below and fire rages above, requiring urgent clearance; deficiency of kidney water and true yin, with predominantly yang pulse patterns and symptoms, fever due to deficient fire, as well as yin deficiency causing blood stasis; or in cases of malaria or typhoid fever following repeated courses of treatment, where excessive sweating has led to yin deficiency and fluid depletion, resulting in a weak pulse, deficient qi, unrelenting thirst and restlessness, and persistent tidal fevers—particularly in severe cases of fire.Consumptive diseases characterized by yin deficiency accompanied by mild fire. Anger-induced fire surging upward from the Liver meridian, causing postpartum breast engorgement and milk overflow; postpartum yin deficiency with excessive fire leading to severe fever. Deficiency of water and excess of fire, manifesting as restlessness, fever, and thirst, accompanied by palpitations and anxiety.Yin deficiency with blood deficiency, where deficient fire is easily stirred, leading to headaches that worsen with heat, restlessness, and internal heat; deafness. Yin deficiency with blood heat, characterized by delayed menstruation with normal flow volume and a purplish-red color; no abdominal distension or pain; occasional tidal fevers; dry mouth; heat in the palms and soles; and a weak, rapid pulse.
