Drug Formulation

50–60 jin of loquat leaves (either dried or fresh; omit if there is no cough), 2 large pears (with deep navels; peel, remove the core, and chop finely), half a cup of honey (simmer until it forms beads when dripped; omit if suffering from loose stools), 8 liang of jujubes (either black round jujubes or Huizhou jujubes are acceptable;Boil until tender, then peel while still hot), 4 liang of Jian lotus seeds (leave the skin on).

Processing

First, place the loquat leaves in a pot, boil them several times in plenty of river water, strain the liquid through a silk cloth to obtain a clear decoction, and discard the boiled loquat leaves.Next, place the pears, jujubes, lotus seeds, and honey together in a pot, spreading them out evenly. Then, pour the clear liquid from the loquat leaves over the ingredients until they are just covered and slightly submerged. Cover the pot, simmer for half a stick of incense, turn the contents over, and simmer for another half stick of incense. Transfer to a porcelain jar for storage.
