Drug Formulation

2 jin of tung oil, half a jin of Zijingpi, half a jin of Angelica dahurica, 4 liang of red peony root, 4 liang of white peony root, and 1 jin of Dehuo.

Processing

First, place the above herbs in a clean pot and simmer over alternating low and high heat. When the Angelica dahurica turns a pale yellow, add 3 liang of Angelica sinensis; when the Angelica dahurica turns a deep yellow, add 8 liang of yellow colophony; next, add 4 liang of beeswax; then add 3 liang of frankincense; followed by 2 liang of myrrh; and finally, 2 liang of dragon’s blood. Continue simmering while adjusting the heat as needed until the mixture resembles amber in color, does not dissolve when placed in water, and holds its shape when pinched;Filter out the remaining herbs using a hemp cloth, straining until only the yellow substance remains, then soak it in water.
