Benefits

Persistent diarrhea in children with malnutrition.

Instructions for Use

Pound the three ingredients—Kushen, etc.—separately and sift them. Boil the scallion whites, fermented soybeans, and Sichuan peppercorns in 5 sheng of water until reduced to 3 sheng. Take one pinch each of the Kushen powder and the other sifted ingredients (measured with three fingers), and add them to the decoction. Bring the mixture to a temperature comfortable for the body. First, drink a small amount of the soybean broth, then eat a mouthful of rice. Lie on your side and slowly administer the entire dose. It is best if the patient remains lying down for a long time without passing stool; In cases of severe urgency, have the patient defecate on clean ground; there should be a worm caused by malnutrition and dampness resembling a white horse’s tail, with a black head—this indicates the treatment is effective. In severe cases, the anus may become enlarged and difficult to heal. Take a peach branch, wrap its tip in cotton, and use the aforementioned decoction to apply moxibustion at a temperature suitable for the patient’s constitution. Perform moxibustion near the spine, applying 30 applications per session, until the condition is cured.
