Drug Formulation

Chen Sha 2 liang (free of impurities; place in a silk bag and suspend it inside a silver or stone vessel; add 3 liang of red pepper powder to the vessel; mix the red pepper powder with well water and fill the vessel to about 7–8 parts full; place a pot over a double boiler, with the vessel containing cinnabar inside, and simmer over a double boiler until small bubbles form on the surface.Continue for three days and nights; remove the cinnabar, grind it, and wash it with water), Ginseng (with the root tip removed) 3 liang, White Atractylodes 3 liang, Poria (with the woody core removed) 3 liang, Deer Antler (scorched to remove hair, coated with butter and roasted until yellow) 3 liang, Astragalus (honey-roasted) 3 liang, Acorus tatarinowii 2 liang.

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder; then add cinnabar and grind until evenly mixed. Mix with jujube pulp until thoroughly blended and well-kneaded, then form into pills the size of a paulownia seed.
