Drug Formulation
1 liang of sulfur (ground), 1 liang of cinnabar (ground), 1 liang of mercury, and half a liang of realgar (ground; grind the above four ingredients into fine powders. Using a crucible, first add the sulfur; after it has melted, add the cinnabar, mercury, and realgar.stir over alternating high and low heat until it forms a sandy mass; allow to cool, then scrape it out, pound it, and sift it into a fine powder. First, take a porcelain bottle; grind a small piece of tile to serve as a lid, and drill a small hole in it large enough to pass a kidney bean through. Seal the bottle with “Liu Yi” clay, then bake it over a fire until dry. Place the sandy powder at the bottom of the bottle and press it down firmly. Next, place the lid on top and seal the seam with clay, leaving the hole open to allow it to dry. Use a fire pit half a scale in size, with sides approximately 4 cun wide,Wait until it has been burning for one shi, then increase the fire and gradually move it closer to the bottle. Once all the black smoke has dissipated, place a damp piece of paper over the hole in the bottle. Replace the paper as soon as it dries, repeating this process 30 times. Allow to cool, remove the contents, and grind them finely. Soak in wine overnight, then roast again to form a fine powder. Add the following ingredients: Ephedra (remove roots and nodes; decoct first, skim off the foam, and roast until dry) 2 liang,Tianma 1 liang and a half, White Aconite (roasted) half a liang, Black Snake (soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted) half a liang, White Flower Snake (soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted) half a liang, White Silkworm Pupae (roasted) half a liang, Cinnamon Bark (coarse bark removed) half a liang,Tiannanxing (roasted) half liang, dry lacquer (stir-fried until smoke rises) 1 fen, dried scorpion (stir-fried with wine) 1 fen, ginseng 1 fen, white Poria (with black skin removed) 1 fen.

Processing
First, calcine and grind the first four ingredients into a fine powder; then, pound and sift the remaining twelve ingredients into a fine powder. Keep them separate. For each dose, take 1 liang of the first powder and mix it with 2 liang of the second powder, grinding them together until uniform. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of a chicken’s head.

Instructions for Use
Take 1–2 pills per dose, ground with soybean-infused wine. Cover with thick clothing to induce sweating. If no sweat appears, take another dose and follow with thin, hot ginger congee; once sweating begins, guard against exposure to external wind.
