Drug Formulation

Half a jin of Achyranthes root, half a jin of Salvia root, half a jin of Coix seed (roasted), half a jin of raw Rehmannia root, 5 liang of Acanthopanax bark, 5 liang of Atractylodes, 4 liang of Schisandra fruit (roasted until cracked, with skin and pith removed), 4 liang of Smilax root, 4 liang of red Poria, 4 liang of Saposhnikovia root, 6 liang of Dehuo root, 6 liang of Dendrobium (roots removed),Eclipta (leaves only), Cinnamon (3 liang), Aconite (roasted, with skin and pith removed) (3 liang), Ginseng (3 liang), Ligusticum (3 liang), Heather leaves (roasted) (3 liang), Asarum (stems and leaves removed) (2 liang), Cimicifuga (2 liang), Fresh ginger (5 liang), Magnetite (calcined, quenched in wine 7 times) (1 jin).

Coarsely chop the ingredients to the size of small beans and place them in a silk bag.

Upon the onset of winter, one suffers from numbness and weakness in the feet; or pain in the tendons and bones making it impossible to bend or stretch; numbness and loss of sensation in the skin; swelling, fullness, and a sense of oppression in the joints of the hands and feet; or swelling of the limbs, with the lower back and shins becoming stiff and straight.

Instructions for Use

Soak in 5 dou of ash-free wine for 7 days, sealing the container tightly to prevent air from entering. After the full 7 days, take half a zhan to 1 zhan per dose, drinking it warm on an empty stomach, 5 times a day. Those who do not drink alcohol should take frequent, small doses. Stop once improvement is observed.
