Drug Formulation

5 liang of Magnolia Bark (ground), 1 fen of Musk (ground), 1 fen of Licorice (roasted), 1 handful of Bamboo Leaves, half a liang of Scutellaria (with black parts removed), 1 liang of Reed Root (chopped), and 1 liang of Gardenia (peeled).

Processing

Take the seven ingredients listed above; grind five of them into pieces the size of a sesame seed. Combine these two ground ingredients with 3 sheng of freshly drawn well water. Place the mixture in a pot and simmer until reduced to about half a sheng. Strain out the residue and clarify the liquid. Take a porcelain bottle, pour the medicinal liquid into it, cover the mouth of the bottle securely with a lid, and seal it tightly with salt mud.calcine over low heat for one fu-shi, remove from the fire and allow to cool. Place the bottle in water, ensuring the water does not reach the mouth of the bottle, and let it soak overnight. The next day, break the bottle open; the medicine will appear golden in color. Grind it into a fine powder.

Instructions for Use

Take half a qian bi per dose, mixed with cold water; it may also be swallowed by wrapping a cotton ball around the mouth to catch the saliva.
