Drug Formulation

2 liang of Angelica sinensis, 2 liang of raw Rehmannia, 1 liang of Dipsacus asper, 1 liang of Achyranthes bidentata, 5 qian of licorice, 1 liang of Sanguisorba officinalis,Madder 1 liang, Small Thistle 1 liang, Wood Apple 1 liang, Apricot Kernels 3 qian, Ginseng 1 liang, Soapberry 2 qian, Sichuan Lovage 1 liang, Liu Jinu 1 liang, Mulberry Twigs 4 liang, Safflower 2 liang, White Atractylodes 1 liang, Astragalus 1 liang, Bupleurum 3 qian, Schizonepeta 3 qian.

Processing

Use 3 jin of sesame oil; bring to a boil several times, strain through a hemp cloth to remove the dregs, then simmer until a drop of the liquid forms a bead. Add 1 jin 4 liang of orpiment powder (previously washed with water), and reduce to a paste—do not overcook;Next, take 3 qian of frankincense, 3 qian of myrrh, 3 qian of natural copper (soaked in vinegar and calcined 7 times), 3 qian of flower-stamen stone, 5 qian of dragon’s blood, 1 liang of beeswax, and 3 qian of cuttlefish bone; grind them into a fine powder. While the ointment is still warm, mix the powder into the ointment, stir thoroughly with a mulberry wood stick, then remove the mixture and store it in a earthenware container.
