Drug Formulation

3 qian of asafoetida, 1 handful of Artemisia annua (ground), 1 handful of peach branches from the northeast (finely chopped), and licorice the size of the patient’s middle finger (finely chopped).

Instructions for Use

Soak the ingredients overnight in approximately 2 sheng of a child’s urine; the next morning, decoct to 1 dasheng, divide into 3 doses, and mix 3 qian of areca nut powder into each dose. Take warm on an empty stomach; after walking 10 li, take another dose.After taking 1–2 doses, the worms will be vomited or expelled through diarrhea; there is no need to take the remaining medicine. If vomiting or diarrhea does not occur, the pus must be completely expelled: if the disease is in the upper part of the body, vomiting will occur; if in the lower part, diarrhea will occur. Once the worms—resembling horsehair or human hair—are expelled, the patient will be cured. If, after taking the medicine, the patient feels weakness in the five viscera or restlessness of the spirit, treat with White Poria Decoction to tonify the body.

Note

After taking the medicine, avoid greasy foods, wet noodles, and raw, cold, or hard foods.
