Drug Formulation

Fresh thorn branches from a Zha tree, about the size of a little finger, one handful (washed with water and chopped finely); 5 qian of licorice; one and a half bowls of freshly drawn water.

Instructions for Use

Place the water and herbs in a new earthenware pot, seal it tightly with three layers of paper, and simmer over moderate heat until the liquid is reduced to 8 parts. Take while warm.Do not boil the residue. Whenever one feels abdominal pain and heaviness in the lower back, as if needing to sit on straw, immediately take one zhan of this decoction while warm; one will immediately feel relief beneath the heart. If thirsty, drink another zhan; once a sensation of heaviness in the lower abdomen is felt, labor will begin, and there will be no risk of transverse or breech presentation. If transverse or breech presentation occurs, the condition will be corrected within three doses. If a stillborn fetus remains in the womb, it will be expelled within three doses. This formula ensures the safety of both mother and child.
