Benefits

Boils and abscesses on the back, various types of ulcerations, and wounds caused by poisonous sticks.

Instructions for Use

First, place the four ingredients—Angelica sinensis, licorice, Lithospermum erythrorhizon, and Angelica dahurica—in the oil and let them steep for 3 days. Simmer in a large ladle over low heat until the herbs turn slightly withered in color, then strain through fine silk to clarify the mixture. Return the oil to the ladle and bring it to a rolling boil. Add the whole pieces of dragon’s blood and dissolve them completely; next, add the white lead and dissolve it over low heat as well;First, pre-soak four teacups in water. Divide the ointment into four portions and pour them into the cups. Wait a short while before adding finely ground mercury oxide; mix 1 qian into each cup and stir thoroughly. Remove after one fu has elapsed. Do not alter the dosage, as this will render the treatment ineffective. For use when the wound has already ulcerated and is oozing pus, first rinse the affected area with licorice decoction; in severe cases, use a decoction of pig’s trotter and medicinal herbs. Wipe the area clean with soft silk, then use a toe-shaped applicator to scoop the ointment into the palm and melt it, applying it thoroughly over the fresh necrotic tissue. Cover the area externally with Taiyi Ointment. For large ulcers, wash and change the dressing twice daily, morning and evening, while concurrently taking potent tonics to warm and strengthen the spleen and stomach.
