Drug Formulation

1 liang of sheep brain calamine (soaked in a child’s urine for 5 days in spring, 3 days in summer, 7 days in autumn, and 10 days in winter; remove, crush, place on a new tile, calcine twice over a fire, rinse thoroughly, and bake dry), 1 liang of Shandong yellow丹 (washed with water, then baked dry), 4 qian of Chen cinnabar (finely ground, washed with water), 3 fen of genuine musk (ground),4 qian of genuine frankincense (heated to remove oil), 4 qian of genuine myrrh (heated to remove oil), 2 qian of white borax (ground extremely fine, washed with water), 1 liang of cuttlefish bone (shell removed, ground fine, soaked in water, rinsed thoroughly, and dried in an oven), 5 fen of broken large pearls (boiled in tofu, ground fine, and washed with water).

Processing

Grind the above ingredients into an extremely fine powder until no sound is heard when rubbed. Use 8 liang of white honey, refined three times and filtered through silk three times, to mix with the medicine into a paste. Store in a porcelain jar and seal the opening with melted wax; the longer it is aged, the better it becomes.
