Drug Formulation

2 liang of sodium nitrate (finely ground), 3 liang of white alum (finely ground), 4 liang of gypsum (finely ground), 1 liang of arsenic trioxide (finely ground).

Processing

Take a small fire-resistant pot. First, heat it over a fire, then coat the inside and outside several times with the natural juice of fresh ginger. Once dry, first add half a liang of arsenic powder; next, add another half liang of arsenic powder mixed with one liang of finely ground sodium nitrate and press firmly into place; then add one liang of finely ground sodium nitrate mixed with finely ground white alum and press firmly into place;then mix 1 liang and a half of white alum powder with 2 liang of gypsum and pack it down firmly; finally, pack 2 liang of gypsum powder tightly on top. Cover the opening with a round tile, surround it with 5 jin of charcoal, and calcine over a top-down fire until all smoke has dissipated. Remove from the fire and allow to cool; scrape out the medicine, grind it into a fine powder, then add 1 liang of high-quality calcined white lead oxide,grind it finely, mix it with the previous preparation, and form into pills the size of a chicken’s head using a few drops of water; let them dry; then place them in a new pot, cover with a tile, set it on bricks, surround with 1 jin of charcoal, and calcine until the mixture glows red; remove with tongs, pour the elixir into a thick porcelain basin, and stir while hot; once the elixir has cooled, the fire toxicity will be removed.

Instructions for Use

Take 3 pills per dose, swallow them with cold water, and follow with a dry food to settle the stomach.
