Source

From *The Book of Care for Infants and Children*, Volume 2.

Processing

Grind the Sichuan Aconite into a fine powder; combine it with the steamed fermented soybeans and sodium sulfate in a mortar and pestle, pounding until it forms a paste. Roll into pills the size of a water caltrop.

Benefits

For children aged 6–7 years and older with mumps or swollen abscesses, locked jaw, and difficulty eating.

Instructions for Use

Take 1 pill at a time; for older children, place it inside the jaw and let it dissolve on its own; as it dissolves, the phlegm will be expelled. Alternatively, let it dissolve in the mouth as described above, and the swelling and infection will subside on their own. For younger children, dissolve the pill in a decoction of mint and honey, apply it to the inside of the jaw with a fingertip, or have the child swallow it—either method is acceptable.
